Tired of Slouching? Here’s What Actually Works
Let’s be real: no one wants to think about posture all day.
Telling yourself to “sit up straight” every five minutes just isn’t realistic.
And it’s not really effective either.
Because posture isn’t just a habit — it’s a strength issue.
When your stabilizer muscles are strong and working the way they should,
your body naturally holds itself better without needing constant reminders.
But when those muscles are weak or underused — like the deep core, mid-back, glutes, and lower traps —
you start to rely on tension instead of alignment.
That’s when you find yourself slouched at your desk, shoulders creeping up, or hunched over your phone.
The fix?
Build strength in the muscles that hold you upright — so your posture becomes automatic.
One of the best moves to start with: Wall Slides.
Here’s how to do them:
Stand with your back against a wall, feet a few inches out,
and your entire spine, head, and hips touching the wall.
Raise your arms up in a “goal post” shape, elbows and backs of hands touching the wall.
Now slowly slide your arms up overhead without losing contact with the wall.
Then lower back down.
Go slow. Focus on keeping everything connected.
Start with 2 sets of 10 reps, once or twice a day.
This simple move wakes up your upper back, opens your chest, and retrains your brain to hold better posture without forcing it.
Because when you build a stronger foundation, better posture just happens.
No reminders necessary.
